Have Yourself an Eco-Friendly Christmas!

Gifts that keep on giving!

There’s no doubt that Christmas and consumerism come hand-in-hand nowadays. But rather than despair, let’s reframe this! You can partake in the seasonal tradition of giving in a more responsible way. So if you don’t know where to start, or simply need a bit of inspo, we’ve got your covered! Here are a few ideas:

A thoughtful Christmas Hamper

Selected by you for them. You could include some home-made goodies, such as a tin of mince pies, a DIY framed picture and some faves from the shops, like a jar of Bonsan Chocolate Spread. It’s the dreamy, creamy, chocolatey stuff of toast heaven. And it’s vegan, organic, and once you’ve spread the final smear (and scooped out the jar with your finger) you can reuse the glass jar: as a tealight holder, a vase for a posy of flowers or as a fairy light lantern.

Eco-friendly Brands

There are some great brands out there, that not only provide options for the conscious consumer, but do so while giving back. Here are a few worth checking out:

Votch

The cruelty-free watch company that’s forever striving to create a product that inflicts no harm to animals and as little to the environment as possible. Votch also donates 10% of profits to like-minded charities each season.
Have a peep at their beautiful watches and stylish straps if someone you love is hinting at a new timepiece!

The Metal Straw Co

You’ve probably seen the stats on plastic straws in the oceans, so we won’t horrify you with those again. Instead we’ll introduce you to The Metal Straw Co – purveyors of a range of reusable alternatives to straws (and other things besides), who aim to eradicate our need for plastic straws and give something back to our environment by supporting a range of animal protection charities.
If you’re short on stocking filler ideas, a metal straw is a welcome gift for any drink-sipper (clue: everyone) and to the planet.

LUX LUZ

Lux Luz means light in Latin and in Spanish, representing the company’s mission to bring hope to women who find themselves in situations which can feel hopeless.
This start-up social enterprise makes luxury eco-soy scented candles and reed diffusers. All of their products are handmade in London, are vegan and come in recycled and recyclable packaging. All profits are reinvested in charities supporting women affected by domestic violence.
This is the classic Christmas ‘smelly’ gift reinvented to keep on giving long after the candle has burned out.

Neon Kactus

Reusable coffee cups for style seeking coffee purists from a company so determined to reduce the use of unsustainable materials, they donate a proportion of all profits to the charity Less Plastic.

Bonsan!

Aaaand us, of course! At Bonsan, we love animals and we love the planet. That’s why we we’re Absolutely Vegan! It’s also why we never use palm oil. We’re passionate about protecting animal habitats and eco-systems, so we put our money where our mouth is and support the brilliant charity, the Orangutan Foundation, this year proudly sponsoring 130 acres of the Bornean Rainforest. To make sure our friends are safe and have a place to live in peace.

Eco-friendly Gifts

Need more inspo for presents that have staying power? Here are a few other suggestions!

Personalised reusable water bottle

Now that they’re (thankfully) becoming mainstream, it’s too easy to mix your bottle up with someone else’s! (#goodnews.)

Eco-friendly pamper kit

For guilt free indulgence.

Eco-friendly laundry solution

May not sound very exciting, but a gift that cuts down single use plastics and eradicates harmful chemicals from your wash is win-win in our books.
